Imagine that there
is a world where Magic and Fantasy
are as natural as here Love and Hate. A
society with a great mixture of
races (as Elves,
Dwarves, Ogres or
Human) and strange landscapes
that welcome in her
bed all these race.
In particular we look at a small kingdom, which throughout its history
has enjoyed large periods of expansion, but now bypasses its best.
Dominated by brilliant kings, good kings, mediocre kings or bastards kings have built up it script, but the truth is
that there have always been disputes
between their peoples. They recently
overcame a dictatorship and they believe they have moved on, but old
suspicions still exist among the
populations and continue to exist
for a long time.
But not everything is negative. In
recent decades, under the reign of
King apparently equable, had a
time of great growth that made them believe they were back in the forefront
of the global elite. Counselors of the King,
seeing the quiet period was
living the kingdom, decided to
take advantage of the situation,
but had no resources or organization, so desperate, they
decided to go to Wizards
and Elves, very
powerful characters who never
yielded free their magic.
In the end, with the
promise of the King and the Counselors that always defend the interests of the others, they closed the partnership
agreement.
Wizards and Elves, happy, went to work without
wasting time. Mobilized adults
and youngs in working age,
and began to lead
them. With magic multiplied
resources. Were made more
flexible, were modified and deleted
a lot of rules in
the name of progress. Almost no one objected. Cities grew at a rate disproportionate. Everything surrounding the Construction seemed to be blessed by fortune. Workers
spent days working hard around the clock, but
instead perceive a great wage that made them forget their sorrows. Immediately they had so many coins that lacked
time to spend.
Counselors of the King, aware of that enrichment,
they began offering residences within the city. But houses were expensive and citizens refused to invest everything in those
houses. That was when the Wizards again appeared on the scene offering to pay the debt in exchange for a share of the benefits workers get. The
citizens, who were fully viable the numbers they had the Wizards, decided to accept.
Meanwhile, to meet the needs that humans could not or
would not cover, it was decided
to agree with the Dwarves, who were commissioned the
harder and heavier works of the cities. Alliance
was a little shaky, but they were times of
greatness, it ended up being
tolerant with the
entry of Dwarves, that
shortly after they also end up yielding to generous
offers of the Wizards and invested in that sure value that was the Construction.
At first the taxes were
paid without problems. Seven hundred or thousand
coins are easy to pay when collected three thousand. However, over the years the decline began.
There had been no external attack,
and buildings crowded
cities. They could no longer continue to grow. But if
not growing, builders were not required, nor does
blacksmiths working iron, nor carpenters doing door. Within
days, millions of jobs began to overrun, and
workers alike humans and dwarves began to be
fired.
Unfortunately for them, the debt with the Wizards continued in force, and every month they had to pay their taxes.
The fine print of the contracts they had signed with them specified that the debt would not be paid with the
return of the house. They had
to keep paying until the debt be repaid. Obviously,
no job (or one of precarious)
income of many people began to disappear
and ended up losing everything
they had.
When reached six months of default of taxes, the Wizards (protected by
law) executed their power and expelled the family from
the house they had bought for
them keep it. But like everyone lost purchasing power, the houses were empty and without buyer, and the family
living in the street or coming home from their parents, provided they had not
also lost by treatment
with the Wizards.
And as I said, even being expelled, the
family would continue to have debt
with the Wizards for thirty or forty years.
The economy of that kingdom was paralyzed. The King and the Counselors, need capital to cover their expenses, again implored aid to
the Elves. It was said of those
creatures that could multiply
the gold with their
investments, but as professional speculators, only agreed to
help them when they agreed exorbitant interest and
more favorable conditions
for them. Counselors accepted.
In this situation some Dwarves decided to return to their caves. A good number
of humans followed them
and many others tried their luck in different places on the planet... But a large majority of the population was left to bear the state of oligopoly
that the Wizards and Elves
were created, with
the tolerance of the King and the
Counselors, who handcuffed, but charges within companies of the most powerful people, suffered
not, even remotely, the crisis that the
people subjected.
Obviously without power of
decision or real will to oppose the script marked
by the Wizards and the
Elves, the Kingdom was forced
to touch the basic pillars
of the state.
Since time immemorial, the cures health and education had
been paid mostly by the Kingdom,
with a portion of the taxes received from citizens (including a
discount on their wages earmarked
for this purpose). But in times
of crisis, and the kingdom's coffers managed arbitrarily, made sure they had to make radical changes to ensure the welfare state: They got on
all taxes and created new, was introduced partial
payment of the invoice medical,
management was handed over public hospitals to private, closed hospitals and surgeries, doctors and teachers are laid off, reduced scholarships, it cheapened the
dismissal of workers, wages
were lowered and multiplied school fees and university fees.
But not all the blame was the King, the Counselors, the Wizards
or the Elves. Citizenship
was fooled (or looked away), believed to be living in a welfare state absolute and eternal,
living off credit and exerting the highest
ranking professions without
getting dirty, while the Dwarfs
were the most
thankless jobs. Many
citizens had never had anything and suddenly pretended to own a
castle, a carriage for each family member and artworks that neither knew appreciate.
The crisis in this kingdom has served to give a slap to the
way of life that had people on the street, lowering
its superhighway that made them
think they were the center of the world. Of course, the powerful have not lost an ounce of his power, on
the contrary, protected by law, have
enriched sinking the people.
And the King and the Counselors, in the name of austerity, have allowed.
But while they were demanding austerity to the people, got to know news about various concessions they had made irregularly the leaders to allied companies. Also discovered numerous cases of corruption, and was rescued with public money to some Wizard, who because of bad investments had run out of capital.
Yes, the contracts with citizens continued all in force and not forgave a penny of debt.
The Kingdom not generate wealth because almost everything that is produced is used to pay the asphyxiating interest of Wizards and Elves. No occupation is created and long ago that society is divided. The rich just looking for their own benefit, and the poor as well (with the difference
that someone have
the resources and the other not). It is a loop that is doomed to chaos.
So, after all these rights and wage cuts, and see that the Counselors are some vulgar scammers just looking out for their interests and those of the Wizards and Elves, the population has decided enough is enough.
Take to the streets to express their
opposition. They demonstrate
in the streets for all that consider it unjust, and remain hoarse from
shouting: "When we gave our support was
not what we expected".
But the Counselors ignored the voice of the people, continue to exert an iron grip
their decisions (agreed with Wizards and Elves). And none resigns.
They cling to power, and they share a bipartisanship that is as rotten as society itself.
"You voted us" they reply.
This is the great irony of this story… Most citizens, perhaps haunted or perhaps blinded by election promises that leaders have failed deliberately, gave them confidence.
Few days ago a japanese girl asked me why the spanish people demonstrate in the street.
ResponEliminaThis is my answer.
I hope that you enjoy! :P
Well,I just finished reading this interesting subject. We've heard of Spanish financial crisis on TV for several times here in Japan, but most of us doesn't really understand how and why it has happened.tonight I learnt about The economy of Spain a little and now I think that this problem is much more serious than I thought. no wonder why people live in Spain often do demonstrate their anger and fear on the streets.it is the only way they can do,even though their enemy is too big to fight(I imagine.) Thanks Jordi for the meaningful article for me,now I'm getting interested why Japanese people doesn't demonstrate and keep being quiet recently...!
ResponEliminaHi Yumi!
EliminaI think the reason is the education we have received. Your culture controls the emotions, and here people are more explosive (and is accustomed to a lifestyle that does not want to give up, but there is a clash of interests and do not know how it will end).
Thanks for your opinion!! XD
